This type of connection also allows WANs or Wide Area Networks to be created, a better option for the operation of in-house IPs.

When a company decides to get this type of connection, there would only be a fixed monthly or annual rental fee. They would also typically be provided by the service provider with round-the-clock service and support. Companies can choose from a range of packages, differing in bandwidth. Some offer bandwidths of 64 kilobytes per second and some as much as 622 megabytes per second. Along with the package, they would also be given support for data security and privacy. Although the cost of leased lines could be higher than DSL technology, there are service providers which offer discounts for longer contracts, such as those which last for two to five years.
